Chemistry with Lab

Full Year Course; 120 minutes

Students work together in Chemistry Lab...

The chemistry course by Apologia is designed to prepare high school students for college chemistry. The 16 modules cover measurement and units, atoms and molecules, classifying matter and its changes, chemical equations, atomic and molecular structure, polyatomic ions, molecular geometry, acids and bases, solutions, gas phase, kinetics, thermodynamics, chemical equilibrium, energy and heat, and reduction-oxidation reactions. The text is well-written in a conversational tone and is easy to understand. The class is conducted in a lecture format with some instructional demonstrations performed by the teacher. Students will also perform some experiments themselves and will be required to keep a lab notebook to record their lab experiences. Tests are given at the end of each module. Students must have completed Algebra 1.
