Half Year Course – Fall & Spring; 90 minutes

This dynamic, hands-on art course explores a wide range of artistic mediums and techniques, offering students the opportunity to grow both creatively and technically. Students will work in areas such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and mosaic, and more, while developing an understanding of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional design. Approximately half of the semester will focus on building strong drawing foundations, including observational skills, shading, composition, perspective, and a variety of drawing techniques. These core skills will support student growth across all other artistic mediums.
Throughout the course, students will study influential artists and explore a variety of artistic styles and techniques, gaining a deeper appreciation for art history and its relevance today. In addition, the course will examine how art can communicate powerful ideas, addressing themes such as emotion, social issues, and activism. Students will be encouraged to express their own perspectives and create meaningful work that reflects both personal and cultural experiences.
By the end of the course, students will have developed a diverse portfolio showcasing their creativity, technical growth, and ability to think critically about art and its impact on society.
Note: Each cycle will have distinct art pieces, allowing students to take this class in both the fall and spring semesters without repeating projects.
